§ 35. Mr. Turtonasked the Secretary of State for War in view of the fact that the rates of pay of French and Greek other ranks serving in Korea are all increased to the American level; whether he will make similar arrangements for British troops and ensure that soldiers from this country do not have to pay Income Tax on their pay, as in the case of Canadian and Australian troops.
§ Mr. StracheyNo. As I explained to the House on 29th May, the British pay code takes account of the fact that officers and men serve a substantial proportion of their service overseas and pay Income Tax at United Kingdom rates, whether they are serving at home or abroad.
