§ 72. Sir J. Mellorasked the Minister of Transport why he has refused permission to reconstruct the bridge, now closed, which carries the road between Blythe End and Lea Marston; and what would be the cost of reconstruction.
§ Mr. BarnesI regret the inconvenience caused to local inhabitants by the closing of this bridge, but there is a parallel Class 1 road less than one mile away. The present estimate is that it would cost£6,600 to reconstruct and would require about 30 tons of steel. The county council has been asked to look into the possibility of modifying the design so as to use less steel and reduce the cost of the work.
