§ Mr. Gammansasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what representations he has had from the Central Selangor District Planters Association with regard to the fact that police lieutenants are still compelled to travel in the most dangerous areas in open cars; how many police ambushes have taken place in Selangor in the past six months; and why there is still a shortage of armour-plating for patrol cars.
§ Mr. J. GriffithsI have not received any such representations. During the six months ending 30th June, 1951, police road vehicles were ambushed on nine occasions in Selangor, 16 police being killed and 12 injured. I know of no cases where it has been impossible to meet orders for armour-plate from Malaya.
