§ 66. Mr. Errollasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why the Duchy of Cornwall's Account for 1949–50 was presented in dummy on 7th February; and when full accounts will be available.
§ Mr. JayIn an Act of 1838 (1 and 2 Vict. c. 101) it is prescribed that the annual Account of receipts and disbursements shall be presented to both Houses of Parliament within one calendar month after the first meeting of Parliament subsequent to 1st January in every year.
In practice, it is not possible to prepare and audit the Account by this date, and to meet the statutory requirement the Account is presented in dummy. The full Account for the year ended 31st December, 1950, has been available since 4th April.
