48. Mr. Philips Priceasked the Minister of Defence whether he has considered permitting the delivery of certain aeroplanes which have been ordered in this country by the Syrian Government; and what decision has been arrived at.
§ Mr. ShinwellThe position has recently been reviewed, but I regret that it has not been possible to modify the decision which I announced on 29th November, 1950, that delivery of these aircraft cannot be authorised in view of the increased armament needs of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and N.A.T.O. countries.
