§ 123. Mr. Errollasked the Attorney-General why the High Court Accounts for 1950–51 were presented in dummy on 18th April; and when full accounts will be available.
The Attorney-GeneralUnder Section 214, subsection 4, of the Supreme Court of Judicature (Consolidation) Act, 1925, these accounts must be laid before both Houses of Parliament within one month after the 31st day of March in each year. The accounts were presented in dummy on 18th April, 1951. It was unfortunately impossible to lay the full accounts within the period prescribed as they were not ready by that time, and it would have been impossible to get them completed within that time, the necessary information not being available. Work on the completion of the accounts is being pressed on as quickly as possible, but it is expected that the final accounts will not be available before October, 1951.
