asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that certain motoring organisations are erecting traffic signs in the London area purporting to have the authority of police notices; if these have been in stalled in co-operation with the Metro politan Police; and what statutory effect they have.

These signs are displayed with the permission of the highway authorities concerned and at the request of the police. Their use is authorised by Regulations 25 (2) and 26 of the Traffic Signs (Size. Colour and Type) Regulations, 1950.
