Mr. Sorensenasked the President of the Board of Trade, in view of the world shortage of D.D.T., B.H.C. and other important insecticides and the importance of these in dealing with malaria, locusts and other diseases and pests, what action His Majesty's Government have taken through the World Health Organisation or otherwise 10 ensure increased production and more equitable world production of these substances.

§ Mr. RhodesThe World Health Organisation, who have had this matter under continuous review for the past two or three years, have suggested certain measures whereby Governments could increase and maintain the supply of these insecticides, and these are under consideration by His Majesty's Government. Meanwhile, within the limits imposed by the restrictions on capital expenditure and availability of materials, the Board of Trade are at all times prepared to consider sympathetically applications by industry to increase its productive capacity.
