HC Deb 04 July 1951 vol 489 c216W
35. Mr. Peter Freeman

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many Eritreans have been introduced into the new administration; what positions they occupy; what the comparative figures are for those of any other nationality in each Department of State; and what proportion are Muslim and Christian.

Mr. Ernest Davies

The new Eritrean Administration has not yet been formed, but a number of Eritreans are employed in the British Administration, which under the United Nations Resolution of 2nd December, 1950, is to continue to conduct the affairs of Eritrea until, at the latest, 15th September, 1952. Full information about the positions occupied is not available in London, but I will communicate with my hon. Friend as soon as the details have been received.
