HC Deb 04 July 1951 vol 489 cc218-9W
52. Brigadier Peto

asked the Minister of Food what are the authorised prices for sheep and beef casualties; and what element of price for hides and wool is included in these prices.

Mr. Webb

These prices vary seasonally according to the weight, class and quality of the carcases passed fit for human consumption; they are set out in the published price lists, copies of which I will send to the hon. and gallant Member. The prices paid for casualty cattle cover the value of the hides and of all offals. Additional seasonal allowances are made for casualty sheep skins according to the weights of the carcases. This year we are also paying a further allowance of 3d. per 1b. dressed carcase weight at certain periods for sheep and lambs received in wool.
