HC Deb 02 July 1951 vol 489 c193W
109. Earl Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the number of recent visits by British subjects resident in this country to countries abroad whose Governments are actively or passively supporting the North Korean offensive against the United Nations Forces, he will introduce legislation requiring an exit visa on all British passports, together with a declaration that the holders will not visit the countries in question.

Mr. de Freitas

The requirement of an exit visa would not fulfil the purposes which the noble Lord has in mind, since once a person had left this country our authorities would possess no control over his subsequent movements.
