HC Deb 02 July 1951 vol 489 cc181-2W
71. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of President Synghman Rhee's official announcement that Koreans will fight on until the last Communist is driven north of the Yalu River, he will propose to the United Nations some further statement clarifying Allied intentions in Korea.

Mr. Ernest Davies

His Majesty's Government have for some time past been discussing with other Governments concerned the issue of a declaration clarifying the intentions of the United Nations in Korea. Hon. Members will now have seen reports of the acceptance by the North Korean and Chinese Commands of General Ridgway's offer to discuss a cease-fire, and I think it would be best to await developments concerning this.
