Mr. Baker Whiteasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give, in sterling, to the nearest pound, figures for direct and indirect taxation per head of the population in Great Britain, for the year ended 31st March, 1950, and an estimate of the figure for the year ending 31st March, 1951.
§ Mr. GaitskellIn the year ended 31st March, 1950, the figures were£43 per head direct taxation and£30 indirect. The estimates for the current year are£42 per head direct and£31 indirect.
