§ Mr. G. P. Stevensasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement about the Torquay Conference; and what agreements have so far been come to which affect existing Imperial Preferences.
§ Mr. BottomleyAs my right hon. Friend informed the Member for Croydon, East (Sir H. Williams) on 23rd November, he proposes to lay before the House a report in the form of a White Paper on the outcome of the Torquay tariff negotiations as soon as possible after their conclusion. In the meantime, we are not in a position to make a statement on the course of the tariff negotiations. With regard to the Fifth Session of the contracting parties to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Wembley, South (Mr. Russell).
