§ Mr. G. Jegerasked the Minister of Agriculture if he will give in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list of the counties from which he has received smallholding schemes for approval under Part IV of the Agriculture Act, 1947, with the extent of each scheme.
Mr. T. WilliamsBy 21st February, 1951, schemes for 272* additional smallholdings of a total area of 13,637 acres, had been submitted to the Department for approval under Part IV of the Agriculture Act, 1947. Of these, schemes for 137* holdings on 5,898* acres had been approved: schemes for 28 holdings on 1,397 acres were still under consideration: schemes comprising 72 holdings on 4,202 acres had after submission been withdrawn by the smallholdings authorities concerned and schemes comprising 35 holdings on 2,140 acres had been found unsuitable for approval by the Department.
The statement given below provides details of the schemes for additional smallholdings which have been approved or are under consideration by the Department.
303WIn addition schemes have been approved for the renewal of leases and the purchase of land previously held on lease providing 149 holdings on 3,251 acres,, and a number of schemes have been approved for the re-equipment or re-organisation of existing smallholdings.
