HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 c259W
122. Mr. Harold Davies

asked the President of the Board of Trade what encouragement he is giving to the production of anhydrite for the recovery of sulphuric acid; and what is the present production of sulphuric acid from anhydrite.

Mr. Bottomley

The present output of sulphuric acid from anhydrite is approximately 100,000 tons a year. I understand proposals are well advanced for the erection of a new plant on a co-operative basis. The Government hope that this and other anhydrite schemes will be proceeded with as rapidly as possible and they are ready to afford every reasonable assistance to them.
