HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 cc251-2W
93. Mr. Edelman

asked the Minister of Supply what steps he is taking to prevent the hoarding of scarce metals.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

The principal nonferrous metals are purchased and distributed by my Department and the distribution of sheet steel and tinplate is controlled by Order to ensure that supplies are used to the best national advantage. To discourage the hoarding of scrap copper, lead and zinc, prices have been controlled and I am considering making an order regulating acquisition.
