HC Deb 26 February 1951 vol 484 cc253-4W
103. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Minister of National Insurance whether she is prepared to include work as ship's fireman among the industries scheduled in the Industrial Injuries Act for benefit when injury by silicosis is caused.

Dr. Summerskill

The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council are at my request now considering the whole question of prescription for pneumoconiosis, including silicosis, and if my hon. Friend has any evidence suggesting that work as a ship's fireman involves a risk of the disease, shall be pleased to pass it on to the Council.
