HC Deb 20 February 1951 vol 484 cc162-3W
32. Mr. York

asked the Secretary of State for War what is the fuel supply position generally at army camps and barracks; at how many stations was there no fuel for heating barrack rooms during December to January; how many camps have been partially closed; and how many men have been sent on leave owing to fuel shortage during the past three months.

Mr. Strachey

In two stations in January it was reported that there was no fuel for heating barrack rooms for periods of five days and one day respectively. No cases have been reported of camps being closed or partially closed, nor of any men having been sent on leave owing to fuel shortage during the past three months. The fuel supply is now rather better.
