HC Deb 20 February 1951 vol 484 c177W
99. Mr. Joynson-Hicks

asked the Minister of Works how many people were engaged on, and what was the cost to the taxpayer of, the schemes sponsored by his Department of films and lectures to the building industry in 1950.

Mr. Stokes

No one in my Department is employed exclusively in organising film shows and lectures for the building industry. A technical information officer in each region makes these arrangements as part of his ordinary duties. The majority of the lectures are given by civil servants in their spare time and without special payment. The total estimated cost in 1950 for the production of films, hire of accommodation and equipment, and lectures was about £13,500.
