§ Sir W. Darlingasked the President of the Board of Trade what proportion of the total output of tinplate in Great Britain is exported in the form of flat sheets; what proportion of that amount could be exported in the form of filled 153W tinplate containers; and if consideration has been given to this alternative form of export.
Mr. H. WilsonWith regard to the first part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to the hon. and gallant Member for Edinburgh, West (Lieut.-Commander Hutchison) on 8th February. With regard to the rest of the Question, no precise information is available; but while considerable success has been achieved in increasing our exports of commodities packed in tinplate, these cannot be regarded as an alternative to exports of tinplate in the form of flat sheets.
