§ Mr. WebbAll the various types of canned meat and canned meat preparations are not separately recorded in the Official Trade Returns, but according to the records of my Department about 1,000 tons of meat were issued in 1950 for export in tins. Without a great deal of research it would not be possible to say how much of this was, in fact, exported within the year. In addition, about 512 tons of imported canned meat most of which was not suitable for use in the United Kingdom were re-exported during the year.
