HC Deb 15 February 1951 vol 484 c99W
115. Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that with the approval of the regional hospital board an additional wing was opened last year of the Home for the Jewish Blind at Rokefield, Westcott, Surrey, but that the wing is now less than half full as the regional hospital board state that the vote is exhausted from which payments can be made for voluntary beds; and if he will make a statement on the subject.

Mr. Marquand

This project was sponsored by my Department as it provides accommodation for blind persons in need of care and attention under the National Assistance Act. I understand that no suggestion was made until last November that beds might be offered to Health Service patients on payment by the regional hospital board. The board has no funds available for this purpose during the current year.
