§ 88. Mr. Parkerasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will ensure that the Government of Uganda will now withdraw orders hampering free political activities of organisations and individuals in Uganda in view of the present peaceful conditions in the territory.
§ Mr. J. GriffithsThere are no orders in force in Uganda hampering legitimate political activities. Two organisations were banned in 1949. Their leaders were found by a commission of inquiry to have organised that year a planned rebellion against the Kabaka of Buganda, which led to loss of life.
