HC Deb 12 February 1951 vol 484 c28W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Works whether intoxicating liquor is on sale in any Government canteen or Government lunch club in Great Britain without a permit from the licensing magistrates.

Mr. Gaitskell

I have been asked to reply. Yes. In certain cases, where canteens are operated on Crown premises for the use of Crown servants, intoxicating liquor is sold without a permit from the licensing magistrates. Liquor must be consumed on the premises, and only during the licensing hours for the district.
