§ Wing Commander Bullusasked the Minister of Supply if he will give details of the stocks of iron and steel scrap, expressed in terms of the number of weeks' consumption at the rate prevailing in the quarter June-September, 1951, held at iron foundries and steel foundries, respectively in December, 1949, March, 1951, and September, 1951, or latest available date.
§ Mr. SandysStocks of iron and steel scrap held at the end of December, 1949, March, 1951, and September, 1951, by the iron foundries and steel foundries,266W expressed in terms of their average weekly consumption in the June to September quarter, 1951, are as follows:—
- Iron foundries: 3.8, 3.8 and 4.3 weeks' stock.
- Steel foundries: 3.7, 4.4 and 4.9 weeks' stock.
Iron foundries use about seven times as much scrap as steel foundries.
