§ 100. Mr. M. MacMillanasked the Minister of Labour the present number and percentage of registered unemployed at the Stornoway employment exchange in November; and what steps he is taking to deal with this problem.
§ Sir P. BennettOn 12th November, 1,023 males and 245 females were registered as unemployed at the Stornoway employment exchange. The total of 1,268 represented about 25 per cent. of the estimated number of insured employees in the area.
The problem of unemployment in this area will continue to receive the closest attention of this Department and those of my right hon. Friends.
