HC Deb 04 December 1951 vol 494 c215W
72. Mr. J. Hall

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if he is aware that Mr. H. Regan, of 11, Frederick Street, Gateshead, employed since 10th October as a nightwatchman by Messrs. Press and Sons of the Team Valley Trading Estates, is still without his appropriate pay as you earn code number; that Mr. Regan was unemployed for two years and that his payment of Income Tax is causing undue hardship; and if he will take steps to have the tax paid refunded as speedily as possible.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I understand that an appropriate code number was allotted as soon as the tax office learnt that Mr. Regan was in employment, and that the tax overpaid will be repaid very shortly.
