HC Deb 04 December 1951 vol 494 cc239-40W
128. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will consider the granting of increased housing priority to developing mining areas.

Mr. H. Macmillan

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Normanton (Mr. A. Roberts), on 27th November.

136. Mr. A. Roberts

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will consider compensating in full, local authorities in mining areas where they are compelled to build council houses on concrete rafts.

Mr. H. Macmillan

Section 6 of the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1946, provides for additional subsidies from the Exchequer and from the rates for houses the cost of which is substantially increased by measures against subsidence. I am not aware of any evidence that this provision is inadequate.
