HC Deb 04 December 1951 vol 494 c229W
108. Mr. Hardy

asked the Minister of Labour if he will consider issuing an appeal to industry to work on 22nd December in lieu of 24th December which would enable the workers to have three successive days off, 24th, 25th and 26th December.

Sir P. Bennett

The arrangement of holidays is a matter for agreement between the two sides of industry. I have no doubt both employers and trade unions will have had regard to the consideration to which the hon. Member refers as well as to the need for maintaining production.
