§ 88. Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenportasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware of the large number of accidents which take place at the bottle-neck in Langham Road, Bowdon, Cheshire, and in connection with which the local council has for the past 20 years urged structural alterations; that, owing to the refusal of his Department to allow a major road improvement scheme, only minor adjustments can be made; and whether, as the scheme would only cost about £5,000, he will permit the work to be carried out, in view of the increasing danger to pedestrians and traffic alike.
§ Mr. MaclayI am informed that during the last five years two accidents have occurred at this point, neither of which involved injury. In the present need to restrict expenditure I regret that I am unable to approve a major improvement scheme here.
