HC Deb 03 December 1951 vol 494 cc197-8W
98. Mr. R. Robinson

asked the Minister of Supply what changes have recently been made among those employed at his establishment in Salwick, Lancashire; when these changes were decided upon; and what efforts have been made to find work elsewhere for those whose employment has been terminated.

Mr. Sandys

The labour strength has been reduced by 409 as the result of a decision taken last August. Practically all the redundant employees at the Salwick factory were offered alternative employment in a Ministry of Supply establishment in the neighbourhood and 123 accepted this offer. There is close col- laboration with the Ministry of Labour in helping the balance to find other employment.
