§ 101. Mr. Alportasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will introduce legislation to rectify the anomalies of, and the injustices caused by, the present nationality laws.
§ Sir D. Maxwell FyfeI understand that my hon. Friend has in mind the fact that under the British Nationality Act, 1948, a person who is a citizen of an independent Commonwealth country is not normally also a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies. All such persons are, however, British subjects under the Act and I am not aware of any injustices or of anomalies that would warrant a departure from the general principle on which the Act is based.
