§ 84. Captain Ryderasked the Minister of Labour whether he has investigated the causes of the dispute at the works of Messrs. Change-wares Limited, Garth Road, Morden and whether he intends to intervene with a view to securing a resumption of work.
§ Mr. RobensI am aware of the facts of this dispute, and from its early stages officers of my Department have been in touch with both sides. At the request of the union, a joint meeting of the parties was arranged and took place on 24th May, under the chairmanship of a conciliation officer, but no settlement could be reached. Since that date contact has been maintained with the parties, but it has not been possible to find an acceptable basis upon which joint discussions could usefully be resumed.
