HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 c256W
108. Mr. Gammans

asked the Minister of Transport what action he proposes to take to replace the road signs in South London, "Bienvenu et prenez garde au trafic," with a translation, "Welcome, beware of the Traffic," which will not excite the ridicule of French visitors.

Mr. Barnes

These notices were erected by the local authority on their own initiative. I understand that arrangements are being made for their removal.
