HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 cc276-7W
Mr. Ian Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will now make a statement with regard to the future military employment of Mr. D. Todman of Stanmore, concerning which the honourable Member for Harrow, East, has already written to him.

Mr. Strachey

Although passed as fit for a Regular engagement by his pre-service medical board, this soldier was subsequently found on training to be below the necessary medical standard. He is, however, fit for national service in suitable military duties. Discharge from his Regular engagement has now been approved and he will be given the opportunity of completing his term of national service or of taking his discharge with liability to subsequent recall by the Minister of Labour and National Service.
