HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 cc280-1W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Food if he will reconsider the selling price of 2s. which he has fixed for a 16 ounce tin of Irish stewed steak which does not enable the importers to pay the Irish what they consider an economical and sufficient amount as the wholesale price, hence this desirable food is almost entirely denied to the British public.

Mr. Webb

The retail price of this product was increased from 2s. to 2s. 4d. per 16 oz. tin on 22nd July.
