HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 cc224-5W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Health how many practising chiropodists there are at this time in Great Britain: and how many of these are unregistered.

Mr. Marquand

I have no information on the number of chiropodists practising. The only register apart from those kept by professional organisations, is that maintained by the Board of Registration of Medical Auxiliaries, a voluntary body; there are about 4,200 names on it.

Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Health if his regulations define as appropriate qualification for employment as a chiropodist under the National Health Service two years' training under a qualified instructor, which qualification is now accepted by the London County Council.

Mr. Marquand

I have made no regulations defining the qualifications of chiropodists in the National Health Service.
