HC Deb 02 August 1951 vol 491 cc258-9W
Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Minister of Transport if he will make a statement about the accident record at Gibbet Crossroads, on the Watling Street in Warwickshire; and what are his intentions regarding the proposed construction of a traffic island at these crossroads.

Mr. Barnes

There were 33 accidents between 1st January, 1946, and 31st July, 1951. Twelve of them involved no personal injury; in 14 the injuries were slight and in seven serious. There were no fatalities. Sixteen of the accidents resulted from failure to comply with the halt signs on the Leicester to Rugby road. I will consider the provision of a traffic roundabout when economic conditions permit.
