§ 25. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the present position of Chinese detainees in Singapore; what likelihood there is now of their deportation to China; whether 194W they are likely to be. brought to trial; and what is the number detained at the present time.
§ Mr. J. GriffithsThere are about 190 Chinese held on detention orders in Singapore. It is unlikely that more than a small proportion of these persons will be brought to trial. I regret that I cannot say what are the prospects of these detainees being repatriated to China.
