asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what were and are the sources of the crude petroleum imported into the United Kingdom amounting to 1,900,000 tons in 1929 and 9,500,000 tons in 1950; and the refineries from which the refined petroleum amounting to 6,100,000 tons in 1929 and 9,400,000 tons in 1950 emanated.

The sources of crude petroleum imported into the United Kingdom in 1929 and 1950 were as follows:

Information is not available about all the refineries from which refined petroleum products were imported into the United Kingdom. But approximately three-quarters of the total of these imports in 1950 came from the following refineries operated by British or British-Dutch companies:

  • Abadan (Iran)
  • Curacao (Netherlands West Indies)
  • Arend Aruba (Netherlands West Indies)
  • Cardon (Venezuela)
  • Pernis (Netherlands)
  • Point Fortin (Trinidad)
  • Point a Pierre (Trinidad)
