Mr. Awberyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many persons in Singapore are eligible for inclusion in the electoral register; how many are actually registered; how many recorded their vote at the recent election; and what steps are being taken to produce a more satisfactory register.
§ Mr. CookIt is estimated that 216,000 persons in Singapore are eligible for inclusion on the electoral register; 48,155 are at present registered, and of these 24,693 recorded their votes at the recent election. It is intended to conduct an intensive registration campaign, in co-operation with political parties and public bodies.
