§ 78. Sir T. Mooreasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware of the constantly increasing prices for all forms of paper; and what plans he has in mind for reducing them.
§ Mr. RhodesYes. I am aware of recent increases in paper prices, which are almost entirely due to the steep rise in the cost of imported woodpulp and other papermaking raw materials which have occurred in the last 12 months. Action in one country alone will not reverse this trend, but we are maintaining price control over some of the scarcer types of paper such as newsprint and mechanical printing paper.
