§ 70. Mr. F. Macleanasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what representations have been made to the United States Government by His Majesty's Government in regard to the proposed Peace Treaty with Japan.
§ Mr. YoungerThe views of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom on the proposed Peace Treaty with Japan were fully but informally discussed with Mr. John Foster Dulles, the Special Representative of the President of the United States, by the United Kingdom Political Representative at Tokyo, by Sir Esler Dening at Canberra, and by His Majesty's Ambassador at Washington, during January and February this year.
On 12th March, the views of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom were officially communicated to the United States Government by His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Washington. On 9th April, a draft Peace Treaty based on the views already communicated to the United States Government was given to the Department of State by His Majesty's Ambassador at Washington as a preliminary working document.
