§ Mr. Hylton-Fosterasked the Minister of Labour how many persons in the City of York at the last convenient date were registered as unemployed; how many such persons were of 60 years of age or more; and how many such persons were registered as handicapped by disablement.
§ Mr. BevanThe total number of unemployed persons on the registers of the York employment exchange and youth employment office at 12th March, 1951, was 396. An age-analysis of the numbers unemployed is obtained only at six-monthly intervals and the latest date for which figures are available is 11th December, 1950. The following table gives the figures for York for that date (persons aged 60 and over are not separately distinguished in the returns, but figures are given in the Table for the age-group 56 and over):
