§ 119. Mr. Crouchasked the Minister of Agriculture what duties are now per formed by the Wheat Committee established under Section 7 (1) of the Wheat Act, 1932.
§ Mr. G. BrownI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the Wheat Commission, which administers the Wheat Fund established under Section 7 (1) of the Wheat Act, 1932. In view of the arrangements at present in force under Part I of the Agriculture Act, 1947, for the purchase of home-grown millable wheat, most of the functions of the Wheat Commission as set out in the Wheat Acts, 1932 to 1939, are at present in abeyance, but the nucleus of an organisation is being kept in being pending decisions on arrangements for the marketing of homegrown wheat when the present control system comes to an end, and the Commission are also still performing various incidental functions such as filling vacancies on local wheat committees.
