HC Deb 12 April 1951 vol 486 c97W
47. Brigadier Thorp

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is aware that two farms at Hauxley, Northumberland, on which opencast mining finished in October, 1950, have not yet been reconditioned for farming although the occupants were told that they would be able to sow this spring; and if he will take the necessary action to see the work is set in hand at once.

Mr. T. Williams

I am aware that on the two farms in question, in common with others, restoration of the land after opencast coal working has been interrupted by the wet weather. I regret that this should be so, and as soon as the weather improves sufficiently the work will be resumed.
