HC Deb 12 April 1951 vol 486 cc106-7W
Mr. L. M. Lever

asked the Minister of National Insurance (1) what steps she is prepared to take to increase old age or retirement pensions;

(2) to state her decision regarding an increase in the rate of earnings capable of being earned without affecting a retirement pension.

Dr. Summerskill

I would refer my hon. Friend to Command Paper No. 8208 which gives the proposed changes in the National Insurance Scheme; copies are available in the Vote Office.

Mr. S. Marshall

asked the Minister of National Insurance whether she has yet been able to give any consideration to the suggestion that in order to encourage elderly people to remain at work, the maximum amount they are allowed to earn without deduction of pension should be increased.

Dr. Summerskill

I would refer the hon. Member to Command Paper No. 8208 which gives the proposed changes in the National Insurance Scheme; copies are available in the Vote Office.
