Miss Hornsby-Smithasked the Minister of National Insurance if she will adjust the present opening hours of insurance offices, which are now 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and 9 till 11.30 a.m. Saturdays, so as to make it possible for workers, on at least one day a week, 49W to visit them outside normal working hours, thus obviating the necessity for their taking time off from work.
Mr. B. TaylorThe present hours of opening of local offices vary according to local conditions and are the result of experiments throughout the country to meet local needs. Experience has shown in general that the very small use made of offices held open outside normal working hours does not justify the additional cost involved, but local arrangements are under constant review.
