asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that recently his Department have stopped permission being granted to retail butchers to buy fresh tripe from local slaughterhouses: and what is the reason for this.

Mr. Webb

I think the hon. and gallant Member is misinformed. These sales have not been stopped, although the quantities available at present are limited owing to the seasonal fall in cattle slaughterings.
